The Role The school are seeking to recruit a Class Teacher with Qualified Teacher status, or willingness to achieve this, to be responsible for the education and welfare of a designated class or groups of pupils with complex needs on the Autistic Spectrum. You will be a passionate and committed advocate for SEND children and comfortable teaching across the key stages. The school has children aged between 4 – 14 years who work across a pathway system depending on the needs of the children. Key Responsibilities

  • Have clear intentions for children’s learning and to use knowledge of school policy and National Curriculum requirements to plan differentiated work to meet the needs of individuals and groups promoting progression, continuity and quality of learning.
  • Use a variety of suitable teaching and learning styles and to communicate clear learning objectives and expectations.
  • Support behaviour taking into account the personal, social and emotional needs of pupils.
  • Establish and maintain a positive regard towards both pupils and staff.
  • Consistently and accurately assess pupils’ attainment in English, maths and science
  • Monitor and assess pupils’ work and use assessment data effectively to inform planning and identify individual needs. Use these assessments to set appropriate targets.
  • Attend and lead assemblies as required.
  • Register pupils at the beginning of the morning and afternoon sessions.
  • Supervise pupils in the playground and at lunch according to the rota.
  • Attend school based in-service training.
  • Deliver in-service training to colleagues as appropriate.
Skills and Qualifications
  • Qualified Teacher Status
  • Experience of working with pupils with SEN, ASD or SLD is desirable but not essential
  • Be willing to follow the school Child Protection Policy and procedures and undertake mandatory Safeguarding training as directed by the school
  • Recent experience of delivering at KS2
  • Fulfil the ‘Professional Standards’ for Teachers in England.
  • Proven ability to demonstrate excellent classroom practice.
  • Proven ability in working successfully as part of a staff team.
  • Evidence of knowing how to evaluate one’s own strengths and weaknesses.
  • Knowledge and experience of current good practice and curriculum developments in special and mainstream education provision.
