We are seeking a part-time Independent Technical Assessor specialising in Environmental Chemistry .
This independent, self-employed position involves ensuring that accredited laboratories comply with pollution control standards. As a Technical Assessor, you should possess extensive knowledge in monitoring water, soil, and air for composition and contamination, as well as an understanding of the relevant regulatory requirements.
This is an independent contracted position, and ongoing right to work in the UK is a pre-requisite of the position.
Becoming a Technical Assessor with UKAS offers a unique opportunity to use your industry expertise to help laboratories continually improve in meeting ISO/IEC 17025:2017 requirements. This role can serve as a rewarding enhancement to your current career or as a standalone venture. It provides exposure to a variety of quality systems, innovative applications of the standard, and the chance to engage in informative technical discussions with laboratory professionals across the industry. This is also an opportunity to work with UKAS in refining assessment methodologies, contributing to a team of experts, and strengthening national infrastructure in your field.
Experience working in an ISO/IEC 17025:2017 accredited testing laboratory, analysing a broad range of environmental samples
Expertise in testing soils, water, and air samples using organic or inorganic analytical techniques to support environmental monitoring
Strong foundation in general chemistry, utilising both traditional wet chemistry and instrumental techniques
In-depth understanding of both internal and external quality control processes across a range of analytical techniques
Extensive knowledge of data performance checks and data integrity requirements to ensure test reliability
Candidates should have experience in working within UK standards and regulatory frameworks
Experience in an ISO/IEC 17025:2017 UK-accredited testing laboratory, supporting and developing the technical aspects of the quality system
Guidance will be provided to enhance your skills in report writing to UKAS standards, with a focus on ISO/IEC 17025:2017 awareness and understanding of UKAS systems
