The Rocketvan Coffee Shop and The Box Shop Bar are looking for a new manager to work alongside existing management, to cover primarily evening opening hours across our working week. Located in an ex-industrial yard just south of Elephant and Castle, our unique and thriving cafe/bar and event space has been open for 3 years.
As well as serving coffee, tea, pastries, toasties, local craft beer, wine, and cocktails, we host a variety of events, and hire out our various spaces for private parties, exhibitions, film screenings and more. There is Live Music every Friday evening, and we screen films and The National Theatre Live during the week in our studio space. We also host open mic music and poetry, plus board games in the Box Shop on weekday evenings.
You should be an experienced cafe/bar manager and barista, able to manage the day-to-day operations of both the cafe and the bar, running shifts and helping with the planning, setting up and management of events.
Running shifts.
Helping with recruiting and supervising staff.
Helping with training employees in drinks preparation, the proper use of coffee equipment, and in hygiene and cleaning standards.
Helping with preparing the space for events.
Managing private parties.
Proven management experience in the hospitality industry.
Sound knowledge of food health and safety regulations.
Barista and bar experience.
Excellent organisational and time management skills.
Effective communication and management skills.
Exceptional customer service skills.
Café opening hours are 8am to 2pm Wednesdays and Thursdays, 8am to 11pm Fridays, 8am to 5pm on Saturdays and 9am to 5pm on Sundays.
Bar opening hours are 6pm to 11pm Wednesdays and Thursdays, Midday to 11pm on Fridays, and Midday to 5pm Saturdays and Sundays. Private parties/events also take place on Saturday evenings until Midnight - these occur throughout the year, but more regularly throughout the summer months.
Your full time hours will be spread between Wednesdays and Sundays, primarily across evenings, so you must be willing and available to work on all of these days.
We are looking for someone who is ready to start immediately. This is an ongoing role, but we are looking for someone in the first instance who is available to cover our busy summer months. Therefore, if you already have a lot of time away booked across the summer, please do not apply.
