Job Title: Head of Year

Location: Derbyshire Area, UK

Are you an experienced and dedicated educator looking to take on a leadership role in a supportive and forward-thinking school? If so, we have an exciting opportunity for you to join our team as a Head of Year at one of our partner schools in the beautiful Derbyshire area, starting in September.

Job Description: As the Head of Year, you will be responsible for leading a year group and ensuring the well-being, progress, and achievement of all students within that cohort. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Providing pastoral care and support to students, including managing behavior, attendance, and welfare issues.
  • Leading a team of tutors and support staff to deliver high-quality pastoral support and guidance.
  • Developing and implementing strategies to promote positive behavior and student engagement.
  • Monitoring and tracking the academic progress and personal development of students within the year group.
  • Building positive relationships with students, parents, and colleagues to foster a supportive and inclusive school community.
  • Collaborating with senior leaders and other staff members to contribute to the overall vision and ethos of the school.

Requirements:

  • Qualified teacher status (QTS) and significant experience working in a secondary school setting.
  • Proven leadership skills and experience in a pastoral or middle leadership role.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
  • A genuine commitment to the well-being and holistic development of young people.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team and lead by example.
  • Knowledge of relevant policies and procedures related to safeguarding and pastoral care.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
