As a dynamic and inspirational people leader, with a background in engineering or manufacturing, the Quality Manager will manage a small team of Quality Professionals and report directly to the General Manager and have a dotted line to Lucy Electric Quality Director. The Quality Manager will focus on QA encompassing Customer Complaints & Support, probably Service Support initially, Production Quality & routine Test, Supplier Quality and Design review across all business boundaries but focus upon manufacturing processes within Lucy Electric EV Infrastructure Ltd and in the in-and-out inspection of goods/equipment manufactured at other Lucy Electric sites.
The Quality Manager role will have full responsibility for Quality, Health & Safety, Environmental, Sustainability & Compliance.
The Quality Manager will be involved in all aspects of the product life cycle so that there is full end-to-end quality included and effectively managed throughout equipment life.
There is an imperative for proactive collaboration across the entire business in the development and delivery of all aspects of quality, engineering, manufacturing, supply chain operations and customer satisfaction.
Lucy Electric EV Infrastructure Ltd is a newly formed business entity that brings our 125-year heritage in switchgear to the world of e-mobility.
From package substations and ultra-high-capacity feeder pillars for supercharging hubs, to compact residential units designed for driveways, every product is engineered for safety, built to handle tomorrow’s loads, and smart enough to integrate seamlessly with modern monitoring systems.
The role will be based onsite in Sowerby Bridge, West Yorkshire, with possible travel to other Lucy Electric locations, some overseas, for short periods as required.
Reporting to the General Manager with a dotted reporting line to the Lucy Electric Group Quality Director and close working with the wider Global Lucy quality team and global factories, suppliers, Engineering teams and Customers.
Accountable for working with the Operations Director to produce a quality strategy, identify key goals and initiatives that will enable all quality processes to support the business in gaining competitive advantage and deliver business results.
Manage and ensure the company’s legal and regulatory environmental compliance.
Co-ordinate and maintain legal, regulatory and internal policy compliance by all team members.
Champion sustainability and monitor sustainability, SBTi, emissions measurement & net zero reduction (Planet), most importantly customer sustainability requirements & the delivery of a sustainable product into a key sustainability market.
Implement Lucy Integrated Management Systems to achieve & maintain certification to ISO 9001, 14001, 45001 & 14064.
Capture the Cost of Poor Quality from UK manufacture and recharge costs for global COPQ issues.
Manage the monthly quality cost centre and budgets; strive to improve the overall financial and key performance indicators of the business.
Manage relationships with suppliers to ensure their supplies are of the correct quality standards and measure them on their on-time in-full delivery targets.
Seek development opportunities and experiment with new approaches and practices to stay current in quality, engineering and manufacturing expertise.
Manage the quality team resources by identifying key roles and talent gaps, developing internal talent and sourcing top talent to build strength within the function and company.
Ensure all quality team members have regular performance management meetings
Experience in ISO 9001:2015 Quality Management System Requirements & ISO14001 Environmental Systems requirements
Experience in LEAN manufacturing and continuous improvement (CI) methodologies
Enthusiastic, well-disciplined and able to work independently as well as in small teams and a wider global Quality Team
Excellent Verbal, interpersonal and written communication skills with good team building skills.
Advanced Quality Planning (APQP), Production Part Approval (PPAP), Failure Mode Effect Analysis (PFMEA & DFMEA)
Structured problem solving & practical knowledge of quality tools: Ishikawa, RCA, 5Why, 8D, SPC, MSA I and II, Pareto analysis
Proficiency in Microsoft Office
Experience working with Microsoft D365 or similar business systems, from a QA perspective.

Certificated experience in people management
Full UK driving licence
