Our opportunities are great as they allow our Cover Supervisors to be flexible with the days that they wish to work and ideally, these roles could lead to more long-term and permanent roles in some of our schools.
Cover Supervisors can be utilised in secondary schools to provide cover for a class when a teacher is not available. They have a subject specialism and they are employed on a flexible and day-to-day basis to ensure that a teacher can have time away from the classroom to carry out other duties (planning, assessment, or training days) or they may also be required to cover lessons for teachers who are away from school due to sickness, self-isolation or for any other absences. A Cover Supervisor is not responsible for planning or assessing a lesson as the original class teacher will set work for students to complete and the Cover Supervisor will manage behaviour and ensure that students remain on task.
The benefits of working as a Modern Foreign Languages Cover Supervisor in a secondary school include:
* Work alongside successful practising teachers to develop your education knowledge further
* Flexible working – only want to work 3 days one week, but 5 days the next? As an Academics MFL Cover Supervisor, you will:
* Hold a minimum Level 6 Qualification (Bachelor’s Degree, Professional Graduate Certificate, BTEC Advanced Professional Diploma, Degree Apprenticeship, etc…) with a French, Spanish, and/or German.
* Be familiar with the National Curriculum and the Modern Foreign Languages programmes of study.
* Have a positive can do attitude to respond to busy schools.
* Have flexibility between Monday to Friday. Academics are dedicated to safer recruitment, safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people. Assignments are subject to safeguarding and child protection screening in line with DfE polices, including right to work, employment references and enhanced DBS checks.
