We are recruiting for the key position of NDT Manager; the NDT Manager will be an integral part of an already established NDT Team responsible for the management of all NDT activities on our client’s oil and chemicals refinery.

Key Responsibilities & Accountabilities of the NDT Manager is:

  • To continue with the high level of approach to Quality, Health and safety for Applus UK at this site location.
  • Main responsibility for the day-to-day running of the NDT operational requirements within the refinery and the staff reporting directly to him. This includes standing in for Site Manager as and when required.
  • Responsible for all aspects of each project, ensuring the safe and effective completion of work on time and to agreed quality standards.
  • Direct communication with Applus site planning manager and site supervisors regarding work planning, work co-ordination and scheduling of monthly operational requirements including reporting of site matters/issues to the Site Manager.
  • Liaison with Planning Manager in particular regards to planning forthcoming shutdown requirements and dealing with related issues.
  • Analysing the state of alignment between NDT plan and proposed maintenance schedule -look for ways to resolve any misalignments.
  • Assisting the Commercial/Planning Departments with project / contract costing.
  • Providing status update to Heads of Maintenance regarding costs and work schedule status per unit when required.
  • Identifying improvements to the interface between Applus UK, other site contractors and PU Maintenance and inspection teams.
  • Keeping informed with all technical developments for all product lines and be able to discuss these with the site inspection team.
  • Ensuring site compliance with UKAS requirements, equipment calibration status, personnel competence, Procedure compliance and NDT reporting in a timely manner.

Requirements:

  • Must be PCN Level II Qualified in; MPI, DPI, UT,
  • Working knowledge of specialist techniques example:- AUT/ Tube inspection
  • Knowledge of IRATA Rope Access applications - desirable
  • PCN Level 3 in one or more disciplines above would also be beneficial but not essential.
  • Proven leadership experience working with large multi skilled teams .
  • Full understanding of Health and Safety requirements associated with engineering employment practices
  • Excellent communication skills both written and oral.
  • Able to manage in accordance to clients expectations.
  • Ability to deliver company and client expectations to challenging deadline
