Supplier Development Engineer Rate Negotiable
Morson are currently for an engaging and varied role as a Supplier Development Engineer for one of our prestigious Aerospace clients. We're looking for someone capable of playing a key role in managing manufacturers and ensuring the delivery of high-quality Aerospace components in efficient timescales. You will spend the majority of your time embedded within suppliers, who are based in different locations across England, therefore this is a role with varied locations from week to week. Travel and accommodation expenses would be covered, but we do need someone willing to work away from home from Monday to Thursday.
This role combines the skill sets of Quality, Manufacturing Engineering and Supplier Liaison Officer. You will be embedded with suppliers to fix supply issues so strong stakeholder management skills are essential. You will support the business unit and group procurement strategy in terms of supplier selection, development, and growth of a robust global supply chain to meet existing and future business requirements. Ideally, we're looking for someone who worked within engineering suppliers to create recovery plans with good supply chain experience. We're expecting this to be a 6-month contract with the possibility of extension or permanent conversion. Our client is open to negotiation on the rate, but we expect somewhere close to an Umbrella rate of £40 per hour plus travel expenses.


Responsibilities

Analysis of work statements – new & recurring to support identification of potential supply base solutions.
Support technical assessments.
Support capability and capacity assessment reviews with suppliers in conjunction with procurement.
Provide support to supplier business readiness process.
To provide support to general engineering queries at business unit level (IPT's).
To assist in the expedite of parts when required.
Understand and challenge supplier LOBs and process lead times and manage commits into business units.
Lead multi-function internal team communications.
Supplier/Customer and Internal interface in times of conducting triage activities.
Essential Requirements

~5 years relevant experience, within a Quality/Manufacturing Engineering or Supply Chain Management environment.
~ Good communication skills – ability to interface effectively with customers and Suppliers.
~ Knowledge of continuous improvement and lean tool sets
~ Awareness of drawings and systems as applied within our major customers.
~ Analytical skills
~ Commercial, contractual and financial awareness
~ Basic Relationship management Skills
~ Understanding of developing manufacturing methodologies & technologies
~ A good working knowledge of Microsoft Packages – Word, PowerPoint, Excel and Access

Desirable Requirements

Preferably be qualified to HNC level in a related Quality /Manufacturing Engineering, Supply Chain discipline or equivalent.
Possess knowledge of AS 9100 as well as regulatory authority approval, and certification requirements.
Project Management experience
Recognising the RESTRICTED nature of the work, suitable candidates will be SC cleared or eligible for this level of clearance, SC must be in place before start date.
