Position: Principal Structural Engineer

This opportunity would be most suitable for an individual with a Subsea Structural Engineering background. Our client is now looking for a Principal Structural Engineer to join their Global Project Centre in London office on a permanent or contract basis.

Role Overview:

The Principal Structural Engineer will have the responsibility for planning workload, coordinating technical skills, and ensuring the effective delivery of high-quality engineering to meet commercial and technical needs. This includes subsea structure design and analysis across various project phases.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Provide specialist skills in subsea structural design engineering.
  2. Conduct in-place, transportation, lifting, deployment, and retrieval analyses for subsea structures.
  3. Support installation aid and sea-fastening design for offshore campaigns.
  4. Generate design reports, analysis, calculations, and various project documentation.
  5. Provide structural analysis using software like STAAD Pro, SACs, Abaqus, and ANSYS.
  6. Coordinate structural engineering support for multi-discipline projects.
  7. Coach and mentor junior engineers, ensuring safety objectives are met.
  8. Engage in knowledge sharing, engineering standards application, and personal CPD.
  9. Collaborate with alliance partners and maintain communication with project leads.
Requirements:

Candidates should ideally have a Master of Engineering degree (MEng) in Mechanical, Civil, Aeronautical, Automotive, or Naval Architecture. Other requirements include:

  • Extensive proven experience in structural analysis and design.
  • Knowledge of industry codes, standards, and design guidelines.
  • Proficiency in software like STAAD Pro, SACs, Abaqus, or ANSYS.
  • Effective communication and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to solve technical problems and prioritize work.
  • Membership to a relevant professional body.
  • Engineering experience within the Subsea industry.
