A great opportunity for an experienced Buyer / Purchasing Assistant to join our dedicated Purchasing & Supply Chain team on a 12 month contract. The role provides support and assistance to the Purchasing Manager in all key activities relating to the Supply Chain Team to meet the requirements of the business. The role is based from our York offices and benefits from the flexibility of hybrid working.
Principle attributes for this role are to be a hands-on team player with strong problem solving, planning and organisational skills. It is also essential to have a supplier & client focus with a resilient attitude & a willingness to demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills with a drive to improve the visibility of the department both internally & externally.
Key Responsibilities:
- Process requisitions and purchase orders for internal customers
- Support internal colleagues with our ERP system as per training package and procedures
- Provide support to the Purchasing Manager with monthly KPIs and Data Analysis on Excel
- Respond timely and professionally to requests from internal colleagues
- Negotiate prices across selected suppliers & categories of spend
- Develop & improve relationships within the Supply Chain
- Introduce new suppliers and monitor performance of existing ones
- Provide Supply Chain support with bids and tenders
- With support from Project Team & Commercial, perform Supplier Reviews / 360’s
- Ensure that the best quality goods and services are procured at the most competitive price and with minimal risk
- Ensure that SYSTRA Governance in Procurement is maintained
Experience Required:
- Proficient use of ERP database software & excellent skills within the Microsoft suite (Excel & Word)
- Must be detail-oriented with a high level of accuracy
- A problem-solver and decision-maker within authority guidelines
- Good negotiation skills & an eye for detail
- Excellent IT skills
- Flexibility in working hours will be required to meet the demands of the role
- Ability to travel to supplier / client sites and other SYSTRA offices will be required
- Assist with any other requirements within the Purchasing / Supply Chain team
- Willingness to learn & develop
- A tenacious individual who can deliver savings & improvements for the business
- Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written
