East Cambridgeshire District Council is an ambitious and forward-thinking Council with a number of exciting initiatives and projects in the pipeline. The Council has two local authority trading companies, providing extra challenges and opportunities for the authority.

Responsibilities:
  • Provide advice to boaters on the amenities available, mooring arrangements, and restrictions that apply
  • Accurately record details of boats moored and issue Mooring Charge Notices
  • Conduct daily monitoring patrols of the Ely Riverside Moorings managed by the District Council
  • Provide a copy of any MCNs issued to the Communities and Partnerships Support Officer on the day of issue
  • Maintain pocket book entries to be used as the basis for writing a witness statement as evidence for court action if necessary
  • Take photographs of boats that have overstayed and submit those as evidence if the MCN is not paid
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office suite (Outlook, Word)
  • Ability to react to weather warnings and suspend enforcement according to the Council's Severe Weather Enforcement Protocol
Qualifications:
  • Strong knowledge of boating practices and regulations
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and make decisions
  • Attention to detail
  • Ability to handle conflict situations calmly and professionally
