The Technical Sales Engineer will develop detailed product knowledge, understanding of technical specifications, and the expertise to understand customer requirements with regards to product modifications and or applications.

The Technical Sales Engineer will research and identify potential clients, contact prospective customers, arrange meetings and present the products to clients in a convincing and persuasive manner. They will be confident demonstrating the effectiveness of the product and explaining how it will provide an ideal technical solution to the clients’ problems.

Key responsibilities

  • Responding to technical sales enquiries for materials, machinery, and conformal coating.
  • Developing a strong understanding of our products, services, and client industries.
  • Organising and attending client visits, building relationships, and securing ongoing contracts.
  • Managing web-based client orders and converting one-off purchases into long-term accounts.
  • Preparing proposals, quotations, and supporting daily sales operations.
  • Maintaining CRM records and providing post-sales support.
  • Attending sales meetings, trade exhibitions, and delivering monthly presentations.
  • Assisting in the continuous development of Chiltern Connections and supporting other departments as needed.

Qualifications

Essential:

  • Foundation degree or equivalent in engineering, biochemistry, or a similar field.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong technical advisory skills and business acumen.
  • Ability to solve problems, manage tasks, and work independently.
  • Full clean driving licence.

Desirable:

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in chemical science or a related field.
