We are looking for an experienced data leader and evangelist to head up our Information and Data team and continue to drive improvements in the CAA's information management and data analysis capabilities, as well as instil a data centric culture and mindset in the organisation.
The successful candidate will be able to provide technical leadership and guidance to data and information professionals in their own team, as well as data specialists in various other areas across the organisation. They will take ownership of the CAA data strategy and drive forward its successful implementation through a variety of existing and planned change initiatives.
And they will ensure resources are utilised effectively to maximise the value available from the data, systems and human resources under their control.
The CAA has a huge opportunity to transform the way it delivers many of its services through effective use of data, in service of its mission to protect people and enable aerospace in the UK.
Work with board members, the CEO, the CIO and other ExCo members to establish vision, and to create a culture that treats data as a cross-corporate asset and evangelise for the effective management and exploitation of data.
Lead the Data and Information Management team.
Own, evolve and implement the CAA Data Strategy.
Responsibility and accountability for enterprise information assets.
Be the corporate leader of data insights that help drive strategic and tactical business opportunity, and be a champion for a data-driven, decision-making culture.
Deploy the Data and Information Management team to exploit data using research and analytics to maximize the return on data assets.
Identify new kinds, types and sources of data to drive business innovation throughout the organisation. Define processes for the effective, integrated introduction of new data.
Provide leadership and guidance for data governance leaders and senior information management professionals in business units across the CAA.
Collaborate and engage externally with industry organisations and government peers to identify opportunities for data exploitation and standardisation for mutual benefit.

Familiarity with business information generation and analysis methods

Broad experience in multiple domain areas, such as data warehousing, business intelligence (BI), data governance, data architecture, data integration, data classification, data strategy, data quality management, data security and privacy, MDM, data standards, regulatory compliance and enterprise architecture frameworks
Demonstrable understanding of data quality considerations and solutions
Technical knowledge of databases and their structure and experience of developing and implementing effective data standards
Experience of reviewing design documentation from a data quality perspective
Ability to facilitate and lead workshops with numerous internal stakeholders to achieve consensus and deliver technical information in non-technical language
