London, United Kingdom RSM UK Full time

Senior Manager/Associate Director - Finance Transformation

We are searching for an experienced Senior Manager/Associate Director - Finance Transformation

Company Overview

Are you an experienced Consultant ready for your next challenge?

RSM’s Digital Advisory practice has an exciting opportunity for an Associate Director to join the sixth largest provider of audit, tax and consulting services to entrepreneurial growth-focused organisations globally.

Here at RSM, we work collaboratively with our clients to help them overcome performance challenges or setting them up to successfully deliver their strategic objectives. We do this through process optimisation, embedding operational excellence and redesigning operating models. We are guided by good practice principles, and the latest technologies, but never constrained by them. At our core we are critical-thinkers, problem-solvers and visionaries.

About the role

As an Associate Director in RSMs Finance Transformation practice, you will play a critical role in helping our clients to leverage the latest digital technologies and best practices to modernise their finance function and achieve their business goals.

Your primary focus will be on leading the team to deliver a high-quality service for our clients, for which you will need a finance background, strong analytical skills and be an exceptional communicator. You will therefore be able to confidently facilitate client workshops to gain a deep understanding of how their finance function operates on a day-to-day basis. From your knowledge and experience, coupled with your awareness of good practice principles, you will be able to identify relevant and practical improvement initiatives to help them both modernise their finance function and help support the delivery of their strategic vision.

You should therefore be able to demonstrate that you can lead and manage Finance Transformation projects, have a strong understanding of Finance process design, and evidence that you have delivered value to the organisations you’ve worked with previously.

Due to our ambitious growth plans, we are seeking individuals who are eager to learn, develop their skills and knowledge and who are above all committed to delivering excellence to join us on this journey. You will also be required to support business development opportunities. You must therefore have a proven ability to “win” work and build a strong pipeline. It goes without saying that you are a team player, a self starter with a ‘can do’ attitude and understand that the best solutions come from collaboration and exchange of ideas.

Please note our work can take us UK-wide (and potentially, occasionally beyond), so you must be prepared to travel and for some overnight stays.

Personal and professional qualities

It is our people that makes RSM what it is, and our commitment to people is paramount to our success. We believe that our people are our greatest asset and are committed to creating an environment that supports their personal and professional goals. Our culture of transparency means that we value open and honest communication at every level of the company. We believe that by sharing information and being upfront with each other, we can build a stronger, more collaborative team.

We also prioritise the professional and personal development of our employees and therefore offer ongoing training and development opportunities to help our team members grow and thrive in their careers.

Summary of key attributes for the Associate Director role:

  • Experience working on Finance Transformation projects, ideally within a professional services environment;
  • Experience of leading and managing consulting teams both with regard to client delivery and ongoing performance management, including demonstrable experience of developing and coaching more junior staff on their career goals
  • Strong academic record: preferably with a business-focus and ideally with a Finance qualification (e.g. ACA, ACCA, CIMA, AAT)
  • Knowledge and experience of Finance process design, with an understanding of what “good” looks like;
  • Proven ability to write proposals and “win” work to build pipeline;
  • Experience of facilitating workshops;
  • Be able to distil complex problems in a clear, easy to understand way
  • Strong report writing skills;
  • Ability to build and maintain networks across the firm and/or from the external market with a view of winning work and developing a strong pipeline
  • Ability to act as performance manager to junior team members, providing support and career guidance to them as well as ensuring quality of delivery
  • Ability to demonstrate the ability to understand and assess client requirements/issues, consider and analyse the impact and solutions to address these;
  • Excellent spoken and written communication, including the ability to present complex ideas clearly and concisely, and draft reports;
  • High proficiency in MS Office including, Excel and PowerPoint;
  • Ability to demonstrate and operate in line with RSM’s core values. These are excellence, teamwork, integrity, respect, and stewardship;
  • Interest and a passion for technology, automation and digital trends;
  • Ability to deal well with ambiguity and to shape a direction for the client and/or our own team
  • Ability to build and maintain networks across the firm and/or from the external market with a view of winning work and developing a strong pipeline
  • Ability to generate their own work with building and maintaining internal and external relationships
  • Ability to contribute to marketing and BD campaigns within the service line, including writing blogs and thought leadership
