Reporting to the Theatre Manager, the successful candidate will play a pivotal role in delivering world-class surgical care, demonstrating leadership, clinical expertise, and a commitment to excellence. Key Responsibilities: Provide expert clinical assistance during a wide range of orthopaedic and spinal surgical procedures, including but not limited to: Elective orthopaedic procedures such as joint replacements (e.g., hip, knee, shoulder), Laparoscopic orthopaedic surgeries, Revisions of joints, and Major spine surgeries. Act as the Surgical First Assistant, demonstrating advanced surgical skills and proficiency in complex orthopaedic-spinal techniques. Able to assist across multiple surgical specialties, such as Gynaecology, General Surgery, and Urology. Lead and coordinate the theatre team during surgeries, fostering effective communication and collaboration among team members. Utilise strong organisational skills to prioritise workload and manage resources efficiently, ensuring the smooth running of surgical services. Document all relevant information accurately and participate in quality improvement initiatives to uphold the highest standards of patient care and safety. Essential Requirements: Registered Nurse (RN) or Operating Department Practitioner (ODP) with current registration. Candidates must have a minimum of 2 years of UK-based experience working at a senior level, with a proven track record of excellence in clinical practice and leadership. Extensive experience in a perioperative setting, focusing on orthopaedic and spinal surgery. Certification as a Surgical First Assistant (SFA). Demonstrated expertise in surgical techniques, instrument handling, and tissue manipulation relevant to orthopaedic-spinal surgery. Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organisational skills, with the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
