Graduate Veterinary Surgeon

Dunfermline Fife, United Kingdom NSV Recruitment Full time €33,000

Job Description: If you are a friendly, happy, proactive, and newly graduated Veterinary Surgeon, our client would be delighted to welcome you to their team. Do you care about people as well as animals? Are you about to graduate or recently graduated, looking for one-to-one support and driven to develop your career with a team that understands back-to-back consultations and lack of support is a proven dream killer? Will you promise to look after yourself so that you’ll be at your best for your patients, clients, and your team? Do you want to future-proof your career in a practice with an exceptional net promoter score? If so, please read on... Responsibilities:

  • Thoroughly follow all Clinical protocols for common medical presentations and routine preventative consultations.
  • Attend a paid-for week-long spay course with a recognized academy in your first year to develop your confidence with certain procedures (they don’t believe that 1-2 of these a month in practice will ever get you to the point of feeling confident, and let’s face it, these can be difficult and stressful ops to do).
  • 30-minute consultations until you learn the system and develop confidence with all aspects of a consultation.
  • Learn and perform basic surgical procedures under one-to-one guidance.
  • Use on-site diagnostic lab equipment, ultrasound, and digital x-ray.
  • Thoroughly follow all aspects of Customer Service protocols so they maintain their client feedback scores.
  • Maintain diagnostic ratios to improve clinical outcomes.
  • Present clients with clear, honest recommendations so they make the right choice for their pets.
  • Communicate honestly during one-to-one feedback sessions so they can learn your successes and support your challenges.
  • Make evidence-based decisions.
  • Learn dental radiography and advanced dental extraction techniques.
  • Make progress surgically.
  • Examine all body systems in every patient, every time.
  • Explain the basis for actions and decisions when required.
  • Effectively gather client data.
  • Thoroughly complete administrative processes.
  • Decisions are informed by client interest regardless of the financial factor for the client.
  • Contribute to their practice protocols by sharing your thoughts.
  • Think ahead about diagnosis to minimize risks to patient health.
About you: You value the Veterinary Surgeon role as a career in its own right, take ownership of your development, including CPD, are respectful, compassionate, and empathetic towards yourself and others, accept making mistakes is part of being a great Veterinary Surgeon, are willing to hold up your hands when you do, learn from them, and use them to grow, prioritize process and high quality, desire a protected lunch break and admin time, are keen to avoid a first job where promises do not live up to reality, seize opportunities to develop when specialist practitioners visit, thrive in a learning environment, enjoy working with Idexx lasercyte and catalyst, ultrasonography, digital radiography, surgical theatre, dental unit, and visiting specialists, value evidence-based facts, engage in trustful communications with colleagues, view feedback as your development tool, never wait to be given jobs - there is always something to do or someone else in the team where you can lend support, happily share your experience of any learning activities, and are driven and active. Compensation & Benefits:
  • Your rota will be flexible, averaging 40 hours a week and will be divided over 4 or 5 days (whatever your preference).
  • Your starting salary will be from £33k/annum.
  • They are open Monday to Friday 9-6 pm, and weekend work will eventually be on a 1:4 rota; however, they are currently closed on weekends with no immediate plans to change the opening hours.
