Conduct crucial research and design evidence-based, scalable STEM programs that integrate sustainability and gender equality. To ensure that our programs are effective, scalable, and truly meet the needs of marginalized communities, we rely on rigorous, evidence-based program design. Our mission is to empower the next generation of African innovators and problem-solvers through practical STEM education, teacher capacity building, and partnerships that bridge education, technology, and sustainability.
A degree in International Development, Public Policy, Education, Social Sciences, or a related analytical field is required. Demonstrated experience in qualitative and/or quantitative research, data analysis, and technical report writing is essential. Experience in designing or evaluating non-profit programs, especially in the youth development or education sectors, is highly valued. Experience in non-profit, education, or STEM-related initiatives is an asset but not mandatory.
Analytical Rigour Exceptional ability to synthesize complex data and draw logical, evidence-based conclusions.
Technical Writing Proven ability to write clear, professional, and well-structured reports and proposals for a professional audience.
Digital Literacy High proficiency in research databases, survey tools, and Microsoft Office Suite (especially Excel and Word).
Autonomy Strong time management skills and ability to work independently to meet research objectives.
Context Analysis Conduct comprehensive desk research on the educational and economic context of potential new regions, focusing on STEM gaps, gender barriers, and youth employment trends.
Needs Assessment Design and potentially administer (remotely) tools like surveys and interview guides to gather primary and secondary data on community needs and education gaps.
Data Synthesis Systematically analyze qualitative and quantitative data to identify emerging needs, best practices, and opportunities for program alignment.
Partnership Scoping Research potential in-country implementation partners (NGOs, local education authorities) that align with ECO STEM AFRICA's mission and technical requirements.
Evidence Briefs Prepare concise internal research briefs that summarize key findings and provide evidence to support advocacy or funding applications.
M&E Framework Support Assist the Program Director in refining key indicators and data collection methodologies for existing programs to enhance impact measurement.
Reporting Standards Stay current on international best practices in youth development, non-formal education, and humanitarian/development sector reporting standards.
New Program Proposal Draft 1–2 detailed, evidence-backed Program Concept Notes ready for external submission to potential implementation partners.
