Unity is a highly regarded and long-established charity, they have supported unpaid carers for more than 20 years and have been contracted by Inverclyde Health and Social Care Partnership to introduce a vastly enhanced service. The purpose of the role is to plan and lead the effective delivery of the Carers Gateway services in identifying and supporting unpaid carers across Inverclyde. The Gateway Manager leads the strategic partnership with Inverclyde Health & Social Care Partnership (IHSCP), ensuring both organisations work towards a shared vision with activities which are aligned and complementary. The Gateway Manager provides leadership to the Gateway team and acts as a highly visible figurehead for the service. The Gateway Manager will develop a broad network of partners organisations who, by working with the Gateway, help to improve carer identification and the range of tailored support services that are accessible to them. Key Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Direct all aspects of the Carers Gateway Inverclyde in line with the service delivery model agreed with IHSCP.
  • Lead the Gateway team overseeing recruitment, induction, development, and support of staff.
  • Day to day line management of 5 FTE staff.
  • Responsible for the management of the Gateway annual budget.
  • Accountable for the daily operations of the peripatetic service across all localities in Inverclyde.
  • Responsible for the development and implementation of framework to capture carers needs and outcomes.
  • Responsible for the development and delivery of quality assurance systems to ensure carers receive consistently high levels of support.
  • Responsible for health and safety within the Gateway service.
  • Lead the development of existing and new partnerships across Inverclyde.
  • Create the annual business development plan for the Carers Gateway and lead its delivery.
Essential/Desirable Skills and Attributes
  • It is essential to have either a SVQ 4 in Social Care, SVQ 4 in Managing Social Care Services, Social Work degree or equivalent, or to possess a minimum qualification of an HND/HNC in Social Care and ideally have over 10 years’ experience working in a social care setting with supervisory or managerial responsibilities.
  • It is essential to have a driving licence and access to a car for business use.
  • It is essential to understand National and Local Carers Strategy, and of the issues facing unpaid carers.
  • It is essential to have a knowledge of related legislation: Carers Act, Self-Directed support, and Safeguarding laws.
  • It is essential to have experience of managing large budgets.
  • It is essential to have experience managing a large team.
