Lead Engineer - Dimensional Control | Oxfordshire | Automotive & Off-Highway Focus | Competitive Salary Ensure you read the information regarding this opportunity thoroughly before making an application. Working closely with the Head of Design, you will be responsible for leading, developing, implementing, and administering Dimensional Control & GD&T best practice within the Design Group and liaising with other Engineering Teams to ensure that the wider business requirements are being met. As the Lead Engineer you will be:

  • Reporting into the Design Group, you will be responsible for leading, developing and implementing our Dimensional Control and Dimensional Variation Analysis (DVA) Processes and Guidelines.
  • Liaise across Engineering functions and external stakeholders to ensure that all business GD&T and Tolerance Stack-up requirements are being met and correctly recorded.
  • Manage dimensional reviews ensuring GD&T requirements are met across engineering functions.
  • Responsible for implementing and managing DVA which correctly captures design, manufacturing and quality requirements.
  • Set up and deliver training material to ensure that Design & Engineering Teams understand the correct application and implementation of GD&T and DVA.
  • Oversee and develop drawing sign-off process and check and correct drawings as required.
  • Working closely with other departments to ensure cost, manufacturing capability and quality targets are met.
  • Assist in the development of the Design Group through the generation of process controls and guidelines.
  • Responsibilities may include the development, mentoring and guiding of team members as required.
As a Lead Engineer you will have:
  • A relevant engineering degree or be able to show capability by proven experience.
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in design or manufacturing or be able to show your experience is transferrable.
  • A good understanding of engineering and able to adapt to mechanical, composite and electrical systems as required.
  • Literacy in Siemens NX and Teamcenter, working knowledge of CATIA V5 would be beneficial.
  • Good working knowledge of proprietary PC software e.g. MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
  • Work with a level of independence, respond quickly to issues and to maintain departmental standards.
