Permanent Contract
37 hours per week with occasional bank holiday and weekend working as required by events calendar.

To serve as a liaison between Trowbridge Town Council and the community, facilitating communication, developing and maintaining positive relationships. The post holder will be responsible for creating a positive and inclusive environment that fosters collaboration, participation, and active involvement within the community. This will involve managing and delivery of outdoor community events, and managing the Community Engagement team.

Community Engagement:
Foster strong relationships with the local community by actively participating in community engagement
Collaborate with community organisations, businesses, and residents to understand their needs and
Build and maintain positive relationships with key stakeholders, including the Mayor and Deputy Mayor, Councillors, staff, the community, and media.

Manage the Town Council’s contribution to a range of outreach events across the town to promote the Town
Councils services and to enhance the Discover Trowbridge Brand.

Event Management
To manage the delivery a broad range of public and community outdoor events throughout the year to enable the Council to deliver its strategy.

To support potential event organisers with best practice advice covering licensing, mapping, suppliers, street
collections, Purple Book guidelines, event health & safety, fire safety, risk assessments, public liability, traffic
Work with the Marketing team and other departments to ensure promotion for all Town Council events, activities
and services is distributed to residents and the local public via all relevant digital channels and applicable
media.

Management of Mayoral Events
Work closely with the Council Secretary to align and organise the Mayor and Deputy Mayor’s community
engagement events and activities, executing events, and efficient handling of public inquiries with the Mayor's priorities and goals.

Information Services and Public Enquiries Management
comprehensive database of enquiries and responses, and provide regular reports to relevant stakeholders.

Open and close the building as a key holder in line with the operating procedures for Trowbridge Town Council,
which requires understanding of the importance of security of the building.

Supervise the department's performance, develop and implement
Professional Development
Stay updated on best practices, industry trends, and developments in community engagement, event
management, and information services. Attend relevant workshops, conferences, and training programs to

Minimum of 5 GCSEs at grades C/4 or equivalent including Maths and English
Bachelor’s degree or significant relevant experience may be considered in lieu of formal qualification
Significant experience of working in community engagement or a related role, with a strong track record of
successful community engagement initiatives
Organisation and management of outdoor community-based events
