My client is an established Financial Sector business who are undertaking a technology transformation that is part of a growth strategy. They have spent some time re-organising IT so that it has the baseline and structure to be successful, we are now looking for strong individuals to join the team.

What will you be doing?

This role is part of the Infrastructure Team (Platforms) - not service desk. We are looking for someone with mid-level experience working within a structured environment where the quality of delivery is a priority.

The successful candidate will get involved with following on a daily basis.

  • Support and assist the First Line Engineers.
  • Test, Install, maintain, upgrade and continuously improve infrastructure hardware and software.
  • Ensure the technology Infrastructure systems operate efficiently in accordance to agreed service availability metrics.
  • Ensuring software is kept up to date and aligned with software patching policy. Input into and maintain a standard library of documentation and procedures.
  • Input into and maintain a standard library of documentation and procedures.
  • Ensure adequate backups are taken and maintained in accordance with documented operational reliance recovery timescales.
  • Management of service desk requests.
  • Deal with escalations in a timely manner.
  • Create, update and review documentation following our systems library process.
  • Identify and manage risks.
  • Challenge existing processes and procedures.
  • Work alongside other technology teams on problems and Incidents.
  • Follow the change control process.
  • Work with Service Assurance on PIRs.
  • Assist with project workstreams and BAU tasks where required.
  • Out of hours on-call for critical systems will be a requirement for this role in-line with the Working Practice Charter and will attract an additional allowance.
  • To carry out any other reasonable additional duties.
  • Flexible working hours due to system upgrades which are often performed outside of business working hours.

  • Day Site Rota 1 week in 7 when a member of the team needs to be on-site during the working day to deliver a hands-on task. This is very rare as there is already a fully staffed Service Desk Team on-site.
  • On-Call Rota 1 week in 5 to be called to site if required. Again, this is very rare and full breakdown of previous call-out numbers can be provided at interview if successful.
