United Kingdom Fawkes & Reece Full time

Role: Senior Buyer Location: Leading Main Contractor
Senior Buyer Opportunity
My client is a national contractor delivering complex building services packages across major public and private sector schemes. Off the back of significant project wins—including a £150m+ MOJ scheme—they are looking to appoint a Buyer to strengthen their procurement function. You’ll join an established, supportive team and will be central to coordinating materials purchasing across a variety of live MEP projects.

As a Buyer, you will take responsibility for:
Managing the procurement of materials and equipment to meet project cost, quality and programme targets.
Building strong working relationships with key suppliers and attending site or manufacturer visits when required.
Identifying opportunities to streamline processes, reduce costs and enhance supply chain performance.
Monitoring supplier performance and supporting continuous improvement initiatives.
Working closely with project and commercial teams to ensure procurement aligns with operational needs.

Senior Buyer Requirements:
Previous experience in a procurement, supply chain, or buying role within the construction or building services or related industry.
Strong commercial awareness and confidence negotiating costs and terms.
A good understanding of materials management and supply chain processes.
Ability to manage multiple procurement activities simultaneously.
Strong communication and relationship-building skills with both internal teams and external suppliers.
Competent in analysing costs, comparing quotations, and making informed purchasing decisions.
This is an excellent opportunity to join a growing, forward-thinking contractor with a highly experienced team who invest heavily in their staff. You’ll benefit from strong career development pathways—such as funded CIPS, chartership and leadership training—alongside a competitive salary (£40,000–£60,000 DOE), flexible working, car allowance or company vehicle, profit share, private medical cover, enhanced family leave, generous pension contributions, and 26 days’ holiday plus bank holidays.

If you would like more information on the Buyer role or any other commercial roles, please apply direct or get in touch with our Fawkes and Reece Birmingham office and speak to Kelly Green on 01827211022.
