We have an exciting opportunity for a (Rotational Band 6 Occupational Therapist ) on a 12 month FTC to join our Therapies Team based at 20 Devonshire Place, London. We are offering a competitive salary up to £52,248 per annum (Band 6 NHS equivalent), plus a fantastic array of benefits.

Job Profile

To provide a high quality Occupational Therapy service to a range of acute inpatient services including oncology, orthopaedics, neurosciences, general surgery and intensive care. To manage own caseload efficiently, including methods of prioritisation in order to achieve timely and safe discharges of patients from hospital, to help prevent admissions/readmissions and enable patients to achieve their rehabilitation goals. Assisting the Lead Occupational Therapist in daily planning, coordinating delivering and evaluation of the Occupational Therapy service. To further deputise for team lead on clinical and managerial issues as requested.

  • Job Type: This is a full-time, permanent position working 37.5 hours per week.

  • Shift Pattern: Monday to Friday 9am-5.30pm

  • Job Location: 20 Devonshire Place, London, W1G 6BW (Close to Regents Park/Baker St tube stations).

  • Salary: NHS Band 6 Equivalent

Key Duties

  • To assess and treat a diverse and complex patient caseload as part of the multi-disciplinary team (MDT)
  • To be responsible for a defined caseload across the Clinic with supervision and support from the Lead Occupational Therapist.
  • To be professionally and legally accountable for all aspects of own work, including the management of patients in your care.
  • Assess patient understanding of assessment and treatment plans, gain valid informed consent and have the capability to work with patients who lack the ability to consent.
  • To undertake individual initial assessments, identify care needs and set patient centred treatment plans.
  • To assess and treat the patient's functional activity level and maximise their independence and choice.
  • To demonstrate cultural sensitivity for international patients.
  • To select and conduct standardised cognitive assessment screening to identify areas affecting functional ability and indicate need for further assessment/ treatment.
  • To carry out moving and handling assessments and teach and demonstrate to families and patients the safe use of equipment including hoists, home equipment and adaptations.
