Media and Technical Director

We are seeking an exceptional Technical (AI) Media Director to pioneer AI-powered media transformation for our enterprise clients. This is a strategic and hands-on role for someone who can bridge the gap between cutting-edge AI technology and practical media application - defining what 'AI in Media' means, building roadmaps from ambition to reality, and delivering transformative programmes that position our clients at the forefront of the industry.
You'll work with large enterprise clients who recognise AI as a critical priority but lack specialist expertise in their media teams. From LLM-powered search and Answer Engine Optimisation (AEO) to agent shopping behaviours and in-house capability building, you'll be at the cutting edge of media's AI revolution.
This is primarily a client-facing role where you'll spend the majority of your time embedded with clients, leading transformation programmes and building their confidence in AI adoption. You'll also mentor colleagues eager to upskill in AI, sharing knowledge and building internal capabilities. This is a contract role with a view to becoming permanent for the right person, offering the opportunity to work on some of the most exciting media transformation programmes in the market.
AI Strategy & Media Transformation
Define what 'AI in Media' means for enterprise clients, translating emerging technologies into practical business applications.
Conduct baseline assessments of clients' current AI maturity and identify high-value opportunities for AI integration across media planning, buying, and optimisation.
Develop strategic roadmaps that articulate how AI can transform media effectiveness, efficiency, and competitive advantage.
Design and lead AI-powered media transformation programmes, ensuring alignment with client business objectives and delivering measurable outcomes.
Advise on build vs buy decisions for AI-powered media technology, evaluating solutions and making recommendations based on client needs and capabilities.
Implementation & Delivery
Design and execute controlled pilots to test AI capabilities in areas such as in-house planning, automated buying, LLM search optimisation, AEO, and agent shopping behaviours.
Build proofs of concept (POCs) that demonstrate the value of AI in media, using results to inform scaled rollouts and long-term strategies.
Deliver implementation roadmaps, project plans, and workstream documentation that enable clients to execute with confidence.
Support clients in defining their global AI models for future years, using pilot results to inform strategic direction.
Support clients is measuring the ROI of AI use in media to prove its value.
Stay at the forefront of AI developments in media, including LLM applications, generative AI, Answer Engine Optimisation, agent-driven commerce, and emerging media technologies.
Translate complex technical concepts into accessible insights for non-technical stakeholders, building client confidence in AI adoption.
Mentor and upskill colleagues in AI capabilities, fostering a culture of learning and innovation within the team.
Contribute to thought leadership, case studies, and best practice documentation that positions the business as a leader in AI-powered media.
Proven senior-level experience in media, with a strong blend of strategic consulting and technical delivery.
Deep expertise in AI applications for media, including hands-on knowledge in at least one of LLM-powered search, Answer Engine Optimisation (AEO), agent shopping, programmatic automation, and AI-driven media planning and buying.
Proven track record of leading media transformation programmes for large enterprise clients, with demonstrable results.
Strong understanding of the media landscape, including planning, buying, measurement, and optimisation across channels.
Experience designing and delivering pilots, POCs, and controlled experiments to test new capabilities and build business cases.
