The role & about the client:
On behalf of our client, ITS Building People (Southampton) are searching for a Site Manager or Assistant Site Manager looking to make the step up to join a privately owned and well established construction company in Poole who undertake Industrial and Residential new build and refurbishment projects across Dorset.
They have been operating for 50 years and have a large portfolio of assets meaning that all projects are self-funded with no borrowing. They have a pipeline of work across Industrial and Residential for a minimum of 15 years within Dorset and extremely low staff turnover with the average tenure within the business of 15 years +.
The initial project would be 3 x Steel Frame industrial units near Wimborne and there is a clear career path for progression and development within the business.
Key Responsibilities -
- Ensuring quality is maintained through the effective supervision of sub-contractors and all staff on site.
- Delivering site operational progress in line with the construction programme.
- Providing solutions to emerging challenges on site and direct those under supervision to carry out works efficiently, safely and to standard.
- Ensuring that the Construction Manager is aware of any site issues in a timely manner and assist in the resolution thereof.
- Writing short term programmes that include high-level detail for the planning of upcoming works.
- Ordering materials and equipment to align with the progress requirements.
- Undertake Site document management.
- Manage Temporary Works on site.
- Collaborating with the Construction Manager and Maintenance & Refurbishment Manager to prepare specifications and schedules of works for obtaining quotes from subcontractors.
- Collaborating with the Construction Manager and Maintenance & Refurbishment Manager to draft specifications for our directly employed site-based labour.
- Assisting in the implementation and coordination of health and safety procedures to ensure compliance with the company s health and safety policy and regulations.
- Ensuring compliance with planning, building, and other statutory regulatory requirements at all times.
- Maintaining complete and comprehensive records for all works undertaken.
The ideal candidate
The ideal candidate will come from a trade background and have previous experience as a Site Manager or Assistant Site Manager working on Industrial or Residential projects.
Essential Qualifications/ experience required/ specific requirements for the role :
- Experience working on New-Build and Refurbishments projects within the Industrial or Residential sectors.
- Previous experience as a Site Manager or Assistant looking to step up
- SMSTS
- Asbestos Awareness
- First Aid
