Quality Control Support Officer
Organisation Information:

Purpose of the role:
The role is responsible for the provision of continuous support (mentoring, training, coaching), engagement and enhancement of quality control within the delivery teams.
Completing surveillance on personnel within targeted areas, ensuring process monitoring and other testing is carried out within these areas, ensuring Quality Control is implemented, maintained, and improved within these areas and engaging in initiatives that lead to the successful continuous improvement of quality systems and product delivery.
This role is key to maintaining the Company's reputation for high quality works and a high level of collaboration, vigilance and dedication is crucial to the success of this position. The role involves being a proactive member of the “Joint Quality Improvement team” led by the client organization.

Key responsibilities and specific accountabilities:
Ensure routine inspection of targeted work is completed as required as per ITP steps.
Ensure works are monitored to identify emerging quality defects and or issues and assist with providing a solution, escalating as appropriate to avoid defects (latent and otherwise).
Maintain, cross check, and approve accurate records of inspections (where required).
Carry out customer inspections on suppliers' product as required.
Carry out inspections on subcontracted delivered products and/or works as required.
Review products and materials to ensure that works are being carried out in accordance with established procedures and methods of working.
Work as part of the QC Support team, providing cover during absence and offering support and advice, as necessary.
Assist with improving the quality culture by mentoring and demonstrating technical requirements and behaviours.
Work closely with the technical and delivery teams to improve inspection procedures and processes contributing to continuous improvement.
Actively contribute towards initiatives which reduce cases of re-work working towards zero defects and right first time.
Ensure that all work and inspections are being carried out in a safe manner, acting on any unsafe working practices immediately.
Keep up to date with new methods and technology to ensure we maintain competitiveness.
Confident and experienced in reviewing reports, ITP’s and LTQR’s.
Deliver training that improves targeted quality initiatives
Carry out any reasonable tasks requested by the management chain.

Key Skills & Competencies
Previous experience as surveillance inspector within heavy engineering and understanding of quality control processes is a must. Experienced Inspector with knowledge of application within a highly regulated industry (preferably nuclear). Qualified in Auditing and Training would be an advantage. The ability to communicate is essential as you will be responsible for attending meetings, liaising with NNB, facilitating and presenting on quality matters, to project teams and suppliers. A high level of organisation and the ability to multi-task is essential as you will have the responsibility for planning and completing many tasks simultaneously. Flexibility, motivation, commitment, and can-do attitude is a very important. Experience in 3D model viewing, Excel and Power Point to enable communication and trending. Experience in working with LTQR’s, reviewing inspection reports and reporting on all findings. It would be an advantage to have experience in working with ISO 9001:2015

All positions within Bylor are employed directly with either Laing O’Rourke or Bouygues Travaux Public and include competitive salaries, private medical insurance, company pension schemes and annual holiday allowance. Some grades will also include a company car allowance.
