Transportation Manager

We’re a team of drinks industry obsessives, driven by supporting the trade – day in and night out. We are one of the UK’s largest drinks wholesalers, supplying drinks to several thousand venues in every part of the UK and every segment of the trade, from luxury hotels and world-class event spaces to local restaurants and community pubs. As the Transport Team Manager, you will be responsible for the smooth management of our transport operation, ensuring cost-effective delivery of services, compliance with Health & Safety and regulatory standards, and the achievement of key people and operational KPIs. You will lead the transport team and oversee the fleet on a day-to-day basis, supporting the wider management team and driving continuous improvement across all areas of the operation.
Manage labour usage within the transport team, ensuring tasks are covered efficiently and cost-effectively.
Deliver all items to agreed customer specifications, minimising wastage and maintaining quality standards.
Ensure fleet readiness and compliance for continuity of supply.
Support the preparation of monthly reports and analyse crew performance for optimal results.
Ensure compliance with Health & Safety and legal standards, including documentation and audits.
Manage fleet compliance, defect reports, servicing, and MOTs.
Monitor adherence to company policies and procedures, including risk assessments.
Proactively manage team performance, training, and development.
Experience in a management role within a fast-moving environment such as FMCG or logistics.
Proven ability to manage, develop, and inspire teams, with strong fleet management experience.
A passion for delivering premium service and a commitment to quality and Health & Safety.
Excellent people management skills, including performance management, team building, and handling disciplinary issues.
Effective planning, organisation, and delegation skills, with attention to detail.
Knowledge of warehousing and distribution systems, transport laws and regulations, cost control, and Health & Safety.
Road Haulage Transport Managers CPC qualification (Standard National) – Essential
Proficient in MS Office Suite – Essential
