Salary up to £75,000 depending on experience plus a relocation allowance up to £5,000

Here at Animals 1st, we are looking for a Clinical Director to join our team to cover maternity leave.
You will manage a two site small animal practice alongside the Practice Manager, the Head Nurse and with the support of another the Area Director and Area Support Manager. You will be the clinical lead in the practice, consulting with clients and performing surgeries and this will consume most of your role.
Other duties will include:

  • Using strong leadership to support the team to achieve best practice and deliver the best outcomes for our patients.
  • Be responsible for the financial performance of the practice and support the team to reach our intended goals.
  • Follow IVC policies and procedures and promote this within the team.
  • Organising Vet rotas and mentoring the less experienced staff in this very busy first opinion practice.
  • Work closely with the Practice Manage and the Head Nurse to aid and support the whole team and clients of East Lothian and overseeing a relocation of the practice to a new site in close proximity to the current one.

A typical week is 4/5 days between 8:30 am – 6:30pm. The weekend and other rota is flexible and will be designed to fit in with the right candidate.

We are long term established in the area and proud to have a large client base and thousands of happy pets We are well equipped with in-house laboratory facilities, digital radiography, and ultrasound. We have a spacious building with 1 theatre and a separate Dental suite, but we have restrictions and that is why we are lucky enough to be moving to a new build purpose designed site within the next 12 months.

We have a good ratio of qualified Nurses to Vets so plenty of support is available. We are lucky to have experienced Veterinary Surgeons who manage their work confidently. Our team have developed strong client bases due to their passion for the job and their compassion towards pets and their owners. We regularly do BOAS and as well as all the usual GP work in practice, we will offer relocation for the right candidate and will work hard to accommodate individual needs if this role suits you.

About You

We require an experienced and confident small animal Vet. Management experience and some prior business knowledge are required, but please reach out if you are unsure because we appreciate this
can look different for everyone. You will be a clinician first and have that passion for people as well.
