This 12-month industrial placement offers the opportunity to gain hands-on experience at one of the UK’s leading power station s, supporting safe and efficient operations across a highly regulated environment. This is a chance to explore th e intersection of business performance, operations, safety, and human facto rs, while building the core skills needed to kick-start a meaningful career in energy, strategy, or process improvement. Key Criteria Studying towards or recently completed a bachelor’s or postgraduate degree (2:2 or higher) in: Business Management Psychology / Human Factors Any Science or Engineering discipline Analytical mindset and ability to work with operational data Excellent communication and report-writing skills Legal right to work in the UK from the start date (visa sponsorship is not available) What You’ll Be Doing You’ll work directly with station teams to identify performance improvement opportunities and help embed a culture of learning and safe operations. Past placement students have: Developed human performance initiatives Investigated and analysed organisational events Created learning briefs, OE reports , and benchmarking documentation Supported communications campaigns, training projects and business planning Analysed trends using operational data to drive change This placement is designed to help you apply your academic training to real-world challenges , supported by mentors and colleagues across the station. Where You’ll Be Based You’ll be located at Torness Power Station in East Lothian , Scotland — a coastal site with a long-standing operational history and strong internal culture. You’ll gain daily exposure to the nuclear energy sector , working within a multidisciplinary team delivering consistent, safe performance.
