The successful applicant will have access to a comprehensive suite of software including Solidworks Premium, Solidworks PDM, Driveworks (CAD Automation), Visualize Pro, Autodesk AutoCAD & Revit, electrical 3D & schematic pro, simulation and composer, as well as an in-house 3D printing facility and a dedicated product development workshop. As a Mechanical Design Engineer, you will work with the existing engineering team, providing a key support role to the New Product Development department in developing new and innovative products as well as making improvements to Dutypoints existing product range. Within the team, this role will offer you the autonomy to be able to innovate independently with a support network around you when needed. You will be required to approach your work with creativity as well as a problem solving mind, as always being mindful of continuous improvement. This is a rewarding role that offers the perfect opportunity to any aspiring Engineer to grow and develop their skills and gain valuable product design experience alongside a knowledgeable engineering team. Your key tasks and responsibilities will include:

  • Research and development of new product ideas and methods
  • Improving existing products and processes
  • The use of Solidworks within a PDM environment to create new designs and amend existing designs
  • The creation of 2D drawings, BOM, ECR as well as maintaining accurate engineering documentation and records
  • Assisting in managing projects through their design life cycle
  • The use of Solidworks simulation to perform FEA and production of reports
  • Producing product renders and animations for marketing purposes
  • Ensure compliance with the industry's safety standards.
Hours of work: Monday - Friday 8am - 4:30pm or 8:30am - 5pm (30 min lunch break). A degree of flexibility on working hours is possible for the right person. Requirements
  • Previous working experience in an engineering design environment
  • At least 2 years' experience in the use of 3D design software, ideally Solidworks
  • Keen interest in industrial product design
  • Excellent communication skills
  • The ability to work to demanding project deadlines, with examples of how this has been achieved
  • Willing to work autonomously without supervision when required.
  • Electrical engineering experience is useful but not essential as most products have a mechanical and electrical element to them
  • Industry related experience, specifically with pumping systems, pipework design and fluid technology would be advantageous but is not essential
  • Previous experience of working within R&D or NPD desirable.
