Network Security Engineer

Excellent opportunity with a leading global organisation for an experienced Network Security Engineer who will join a busy team working on BAU and major future projects.

This role will be initially on a 6-month Fixed Term Contract basis with the potential to conversion to permanent role at the end of the fixed-term contract.

Responsibilities:

  • Monitor and responds to IT security events / alerts
  • Plans and carry out proactive maintenance on network devices / firewalls etc.
  • Perform troubleshooting tasks based on fault tickets
  • Carry out moves / adds / changes on network / security solutions
  • Acts as technical escalation point for network / firewall faults
  • Perform design work (routing / switching etc.) for network implementation projects
  • Ensures that network design / configuration are in compliance with industry best-practice, relevant regulatory requirements and internal policy
  • Configures and deploys network / security solutions
  • Acts as technical lead for larger assigned projects, including providing SME-level advice to project teams and stakeholders
  • Manages and carries out smaller assigned projects independently, with oversight from management team
  • Advises IT team on technology choices / best-practice relating to networks / security
  • Identifies potential areas for improvement
  • Liaises with internal business resources at all levels
  • Liaises with external partners and suppliers

Experience required

  • SOC experience preferred.
  • Minimum 5 years in a network security engineer / security analyst role, gained in medium to large enterprise environments
  • Minimum 3 years routing and switching experience, gained in medium to large enterprise environments
  • Significant experience in security event monitoring / analysis / remediation
  • Significant experience with management of firewalls / security appliances (examples: Cisco FirePower, Palo Alto, CheckPoint, enterprise web / email filters, AAA solutions)
  • Significant experience with troubleshooting of network and security solutions as point of escalation, including log and packet analysis
  • Experience with Microsoft Defender suite (Azure / 365)
  • Experience with management and implementation of dynamic routing protocols (BGP / OSPF)
  • Experience with acting as technical lead (network / security) in projects, including interaction with project teams and stakeholders
  • Excellent written and spoken English
  • Preferably educated to degree level in a relevant field
  • Holds or has previously held professional level certifications related to network security (examples: CEH, CISM, CCNP Security)
