Propulsion Software, Calibration & Controls Department supports JLR'S objective of delivering clean and efficient products to our customers. Our team works alongside internal and external software teams who develop and deploy control software, maximising the benefits of new propulsion technologies through a short time to market, ensuring the delivery of unique industry leading features happen within the targets set. Product Engineering is in an exciting period of transition, operating within an Agile function, with the role of Software Commercial Lead playing an integral part within the Powertrain Agile structure. You shall get first-hand exposure to powertrain innovations, where you will engage with engineering teams in securing robust delivery of propulsion software led technologies.

As a Commercial Software Lead you will join the Commercial Delivery Squad which has 4 members. The purpose of the Commercial Delivery team is to support multiple cross carline and cross platform project delivery squads lead by Group Product Owners that specify, engineer and deliver Propulsion Software, meeting defined targets and attributes (technical and commercial - on cost, quality and time).

Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities:

  • Support Programme Teams by estimating future programme costs and resource requirements working together with Group Product Owners, using various tools currently in place and developing new tools and process as and when required.

  • Manage request for information and request for quotation process for software development working together with software Delivery Leads, Group policy objects and software providers.

  • Assist with securing programme funding for Software Development Costs working together with Software Delivery Leads, Group policy objects, Programme Finance Teams and Business Planning Team.

  • Make sure programme spend is tracked and managed within budget.

  • Lead supplier collaboration meetings, as well as Software change request meetings. Making sure any issues are addressed quickly and effective ways of working together are developed, helping to implement process and technical improvements.

WHAT YOU'LL NEED

  • Proven supplier management, contract management and negotiation skills.

  • Confident communicator, with the ability to develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders and partners at all levels of an internal and external organisation.

  • Working knowledge of System and/or Software product life cycle and design principles.

  • Attention to details and ability to analyse financial data.

  • Experience using Change Management Tools.
