Role Overview: We are seeking a skilled and experienced Cloud Engineer to join our dynamic team. This key technical role will focus on designing, deploying, and optimising secure cloud environments using either Amazon Web Services (AWS) or Google Cloud Platform (GCP). The successful candidate will transform business requirements into robust, scalable, and cost-effective cloud architectures using Infrastructure as Code (IaC). This role demands a thorough understanding of best practices in cloud infrastructure, security, and optimisation, as well as the ability to implement these principles effectively.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and Architecture: Develop and deliver well-architected cloud solutions, including Landing Zones for AWS or GCP, ensuring scalability, security, and compliance.
  • Infrastructure as Code: Create and manage infrastructure using IaC tools such as Terraform, adhering to GitOps principles for version control and collaboration.
  • Collaboration: Work with cross-functional teams to align cloud infrastructure with business objectives and industry best practices.
  • Network and Security: Implement and maintain network designs, security measures, and compliance standards within the cloud environment.
  • Optimisation: Enhance cloud resource utilisation and cost-efficiency while ensuring high availability and disaster recovery capabilities.
  • Technical Support: Provide expertise in cloud-native solutions, including APIs, containers, Kubernetes, and service mesh technologies.
  • Continuous Improvement: Stay up to date with emerging cloud technologies and industry trends, engaging in continuous learning and improvement.

Required Skills and Experience:

  • Cloud Platform Expertise: Proven experience with AWS or GCP services and architecture, particularly in designing and implementing Landing Zones and cloud foundations.
  • IaC Proficiency: Strong expertise in Infrastructure as Code, particularly using Terraform, and familiarity with GitOps workflows.
  • Networking and Security: Solid understanding of cloud networking, security, governance, and hybrid cloud architectures.
  • Cost Management: Knowledge of cloud cost management and optimisation strategies.
  • Problem-Solving: Excellent problem-solving abilities and a collaborative mindset.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Certifications: Relevant certifications such as AWS Certified Solutions Architect, AWS Certified DevOps Engineer, Google Cloud Professional Cloud Architect, or Google Cloud Professional Cloud DevOps Engineer.
  • Migration Experience: Experience with cloud migrations, integrations, and consolidations.
  • DevOps Practices: Familiarity with DevOps practices and tools, including CI/CD pipelines.
