Retail Economics is searching for a motivated and ambitious retail analyst who has a passion for adding value to a growing and disruptive team. We’re an exceptionally dynamic, exciting and energetic economics consultancy.

We're looking for an enthusiastic, motivated and ambitious analyst who has an intellectual curiosity for retail, and a passion for research and writing.

Experience

We're looking for someone with around 3-5 years of professional experience. They will preferably have a consultancy, banking, or economics background who has regularly dealt with economic datasets and consumer panel data and can apply statistical techniques to draw out key insights.

An interest in utilising social media to further their personal profile and that of Retail Economics would be highly advantageous. The ideal candidate will have excellent writing skills and will need to demonstrate a track record of having produced high-quality research and/or report writing.

Importantly, with our significant media presence your big ideas will be heard. Being creative, innovative and driven, you’ll be given ample room to exercise your initiative in developing our products and seeking out new opportunities. With a small start-up company vibe, you’ll be presented with the opportunity to shine and have a tangible impact on the direction and pace of the business. 

Responsibilities

Your research areas will cover many retail-related topics omnichannel, ecommerce, economic analysis, and assessing the impact of online or quantifying the impact of economic shocks such as the cost-of-living crisis.

Specific tasks can typically involve:

• Analysing economic data, data cleansing and statistical analysis

• Devising methods and procedures for obtaining data

• Interpreting analytical outputs and report writing

• Creating and developing various econometric modelling techniques to develop forecasts

• Understanding and interpreting data

• Explaining research methodology and justifying conclusions drawn from research data

• Evaluating past and present economic issues and trends

Qualifications

A master’s degree in economics is preferable or 2:1 undergraduate degree. A joint degree including economics will also be considered. Graduates completing joint degrees should ensure that the majority of their degree modules are in economics and that they have studied both microeconomics and macroeconomics.
