Senior Full Stack Software Engineer

London – Investment Management – Front Office – React – Python – Asset Management - 2 days a week in Office

Are you a skilled Senior Full Stack Software Engineer looking for an opportunity to work at the intersection of technology and investment management? Join a growing front-office-focused software engineering team in London, developing innovative tools and systems to drive investment decisions and portfolio management.

About the Role

This is a unique opportunity to shape the technical landscape within a forward-thinking investment management environment. You will collaborate closely with investment teams to deliver bespoke solutions, leveraging your full-stack expertise across modern technologies.

Key Responsibilities

  • Partner with investment teams to build and enhance tools supporting portfolio and order management .
  • Develop and maintain full-stack applications using React (front-end) and Python / NodeJS (back-end).
  • Design and implement RESTful or GraphQL APIs , fostering an API-driven culture.
  • Build and optimise data pipelines with a focus on ETL/ELT processes.
  • Integrate new and existing systems with diverse data sources.
  • Apply strong data modelling and database design skills (e.g., Hive data lake , MongoDB , SQL Server ).
  • Ensure robust software delivery, from design and testing to deployment.

What We’re Looking For

  • Strong experience in Python , NodeJS , or similar back-end languages.
  • Front-end development expertise with React and a solid understanding of Redux .
  • Proven experience with SQL and/or NoSQL databases .
  • Hands-on knowledge of clean code principles , TDD , and related practices.
  • Ability to design and build scalable APIs ( REST / GraphQL ).
  • Exposure to ETL pipelines and technologies such as Airflow or Spark .
  • Commercial experience in investment management or financial services.
  • A pragmatic and solutions-oriented approach to software delivery.

Desirable Skills

  • Knowledge of Docker or container management.
  • Experience working with portfolio or order management systems (e.g., Charles River, Aladdin, thinkFolio, SimCorp).
