I am currently recruiting for an exciting opportunity in Lincolnshire for an Engineering Manager for a food manufacturing company.
£10% Bonus
Company Car - Electric
To effectively, efficiently and safely manage, direct and co-ordinate the Engineering Department and Engineering Activities on site to ensure they comply with both company and legal requirements.

Working directly for the Operations Director, liaise with all department managers to plan and organise all engineering activities.
Ensure food hygiene standards are maintained to the expected standards.
Prepare an effective plan and establish priorities for the engineering department to meet the engineering requirements and ensure all other relevant departments are informed of the plan.
Liase with external contractors appropriately.
Ensure the engineering department provides an effective, efficient and cost-effective service for the site.
Conduct and implement a Preventative Maintenance System and any other equipment servicing as directed by the manufacturers guidelines and historical information, including stock control and spares replenishment system.
Negotiate with clients to finalise all engineering project’s specifications and ensure they are cost effective and meet the factory and H&S requirements
Focus on Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s) as identified by the Operations Director and work towards achieving and surpassing agreed targets.
Increase financial returns through maximising efficiencies whilst minimising costs and overtime.
Identify areas of inefficiency and reduce waste where possible
Inspect equipment to ensure specific operational performance and optimum utilisation.
Ensure maintenance requests for engineering are responded to appropriately, timely, efficiently and effectively.
Report significant operational problems to the senior management on site and update the Operations Director on the state of the Engineering department on an ongoing basis.
Ensure systems are in place to give full asset care, critical spares and plant criticality to maximise production uptime to agreed target levels.

Brief the engineering team regularly.
Working with the HR Manager, ensure that the site training requirements are met to ensure an effective, well-balanced and flexible workforce.
Formally appraise Engineers on an annual basis (reviewing periodically) and agree their Personal Development Plan.
Work towards employee engagement with the HR Manager and ensure representatives from engineering are available to attend the Your Say Forums.
Liase with the administration and payroll departments to ensure that efficient administrative and payroll systems are maintained.
Maintain operational and agreed staffing levels by planning and managing recruitment, motivation, discipline, training and annual leave.

Comply with the Company H&S Policy and procedures at all times.
Ensure that the team carry out their assigned responsibilities and review their performance accordingly.
Ensure suitable and sufficient risk assessments (including COSSH, Confined Spaces, PUWER and Manual Handling) are completed within all of the areas within your responsibilities.
Manage and monitor contractors working within the areas of responsibilities and ensure they comply with the Company H&S policy and procedures.
Ensure pre-start checks are completed daily, safety take tens and racking inspections are completed weekly and level 2 and PPE audits are completed monthly.
Periodically complete a Level 3 audit in accordance with the audit schedule.
Ensure a representative from engineering is available to attend the monthly health and safety meeting
Inform the Technical Manager of any technical concerns when planning and/or organising engineering activities.
Ensure compliance with all statutory, company and customer health and hygiene regulations.
Ensure an effective cleaning programme is implemented to maintain housekeeping and hygiene standards.
Effectively ‘manage’ all overtime hours worked by all sub-ordinates.
Ensure customer specifications and quality standards are achieved and maintained with regard to engineering activities.


Take lead and ensure compliance with the company environmental policy and procedures in line with site requirements.
