SENCO (2 Days per Week) – Part-Time (Temporary) Teach Now is seeking an experienced and values-driven SENCO to join an inclusive Church of England primary school in Islington. This is a two-day-a-week, out-of-class leadership role beginning in January, offering a rewarding opportunity to shape and strengthen SEND provision across the school. About The Role You will take the lead in establishing, coordinating and quality-assuring the school’s SEND systems, ensuring pupils with additional needs access a rich, ambitious curriculum and thrive academically, socially and emotionally. Working closely with the Headteacher and SLT, you will play a central role in embedding the school’s ethos of inclusion, equality and “Learning for Life.” Key Responsibilities Lead the development and implementation of SEND processes in line with statutory guidance, the school’s SEND policy and the SEN Code of Practice Oversee provision for pupils with EHCPs and those at SEN Support, ensuring early identification, a graduated response and clear progress outcomes Coordinate, write, review and monitor personalised plans and provision maps, ensuring high-quality, consistent support Manage and develop the SEND team, modelling best practice and supporting class teachers and support staff to deliver effective interventions Lead and coordinate annual EHCP reviews, liaising with parents, external agencies and the local authority Use assessment data to evaluate intervention impact, contributing to school self-evaluation and improvement planning for SEND Promote inclusive practice across the curriculum, upholding the school’s Christian values of respect, care and high expectations Person Specification A qualified SENCO or experienced SEN practitioner with substantial recent primary experience Strong working knowledge of the SEND Code of Practice, EHCP processes and multi-agency collaboration Proven success in raising outcomes for pupils with SEND through evidence-based strategies Excellent communication and relationship-building skills with pupils, families and professionals A commitment to the ethos of a Church of England school and the holistic development of all learners Highly organised, reflective and able to maximise impact within a focused two-day-a-week schedule If you are a committed SEN leader ready to make a meaningful contribution to a values-driven, inclusive school community, we would love to hear from you.
