Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop, evaluate, and optimize nuclear processes for safety, efficiency, and reliability. This includes creating process flow diagrams (PFDs), piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs), and detailed engineering calculations.
  • Conduct safety analyses, hazard and operability studies (HAZOP), and failure mode and effects analysis (FMEA) to identify and mitigate risks associated with nuclear processes. Ensure compliance with nuclear safety standards and regulations.
  • Monitor process performance and analyze data to identify areas for improvement. Troubleshoot process-related issues and provide technical support to operations and maintenance teams.
  • Ensure all processes comply with regulatory requirements, industry standards, and company policies. Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation, including process descriptions, safety cases, operating procedures, and technical reports.
  • Work with multidisciplinary teams, including mechanical, electrical, and control engineers, to integrate process designs with other systems. Communicate process-related information effectively to stakeholders at all levels.
  • Lead and participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance process safety, efficiency, and reliability. Stay current with industry developments, best practices, and emerging technologies in nuclear engineering and process optimization.
  • Support project planning, scheduling, and budgeting for process-related activities. Provide input on resource requirements and project risk assessments.
  • Assist in the development and delivery of training programs for plant operators and maintenance staff on process systems and procedures.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Nuclear Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field. A master’s degree or specialized training in nuclear engineering or process engineering is a plus.
  • 2+ years of experience in process engineering, preferably in the nuclear industry or a similarly regulated environment (e.g., oil and gas, chemical processing). Experience with nuclear power plants, fuel cycle facilities, or waste management processes is highly desirable.
  • Proficiency in process simulation software (e.g., Aspen HYSYS, MATLAB, COMSOL, RELAP5).
  • Knowledge of process control systems, instrumentation, and automation.
