Role Overview : We are looking for a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to lead the design and delivery of machined, fabricated, and formed parts for their products. You'll manage existing designs and create new ones, ensuring they are fit for manufacture, assembly, and service

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the development and maintenance of manufactured parts, from design to testing
  • Manage and guide a team of Mechanical Design Engineers
  • Maintain up-to-date information in the ERP system for all designed parts
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to meet product requirements
  • Ensure designs comply with regulatory and safety standards (BS8888)
  • Draft initial BOMs for all products
  • Innovate with the R&D team to enhance product technical excellence
  • Oversee mechanical design aspects within project budgets and timelines
  • Address technical issues related to design, manufacturability, and costs
  • Coordinate with suppliers for timely prototype deliveries
  • Contribute to departmental strategic direction and budget planning
  • Stay current with industry trends and emerging technologies

Preferred Skills:

  • Proficiency in Mechanical design, engineering, and manufacturing processes.
  • Strong SolidWorks CAD skills.
  • Knowledge of additive manufacturing and 3D printing.
  • Understanding of thermal control and EMC performance.
  • Familiarity with project management tools and methodologies.
  • Excellent communication skills for cross-functional teamwork.
  • Data-driven decision-making and continuous improvement focus.
  • Supplier selection and procurement experience.
  • Quality control methodologies and root cause analysis.
  • ISO9001:2008 and/or ISO13485 quality management systems knowledge.
  • Experience with Product Data Management / Product Lifecycle Management Systems.
  • Knowledge of Material Requirements Planning (MRP) and BOM accuracy.
  • Understanding of ISO 7010 and BS8888 requirements

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Product Design, or related field.
  • 8+ years of experience in Mechanical engineering and product development.
  • Proven track record in launching new products to market, preferably in a Metrology-based industry.
  • Strong technical skills in design, engineering, and testing, with familiarity with industry standards and regulations.
  • Project management experience preferred.
