My client is a long established niche market leader in testing equipment. They develop and manufacture a range of products (combination of hardware, electronics, and software) in the UK and sell to a global customer base. The senior management team has been strengthened in the last few months with a new Managing Director, Finance Director and Technical Director and the company is poised for significant growth. Reporting to the Engineering Manager and based at their HQ in East Grinstead, this is a new role within a growing team. The role will suit an experienced mechanical engineer whose passion is 3D design, modelling, building prototypes and who is looking to join an established and motivated team. Responsibilities: Providing technical leadership within a small, mixed discipline, project design team to produce quality design solutions in line with cost, time, and quality requirements CAD modelling of parts and assemblies Lead concept design and development of both new products and improvements to existing products Ensure that products comply with Standards and customer requirements Responsibility for design approval and final drawing release within SolidWorks PDM Generate engineering documentation, e.g. product requirements, product definition, P&ID Discuss requirements with suppliers and select suitable OEM parts Investigate problems, identify root cause, and implement solutions Implement design changes via Change Note process Transfer new and updated designs into Production Provide support to other teams within the company, including Production and Service departments Requirements: Relevant engineering qualification or equivalent experience 5-10 years’ practical experience within mechanical engineering, preferably in a manufacturing environment Experience of leading small engineering projects Experience in New Product Development (design, build, test, release) Proficiency with SolidWorks 3D CAD design using weldments and sheet metal Experience with using engineering sciences / calculations / analysis as part of product design Working in a project oriented environment Have a flair for innovation, new concept designs and a passion for mechanical engineering Be able to communicate clearly and effectively with all stakeholders to understand diverse and complex requirements Benefits: Salary £55,000-65,000 depending on experience + attractive benefits package
