Lead Data Strategy Engineer | Hedge Fund | Hybrid | London | £££

Dragonfly People are working closely with a growing London-based Hedge Fund who are looking to expand their quants and data team. We are looking for an experienced Data Strategy Engineer / Lead.

As a Lead Data Strategy Engineer, you will be working closely between the Central Quant Research team and the Quant Developers team, acting as the central person responsible for the onboarding and verification of large data sets .

Data Strategy Engineer Job Requirements:

A strong background in finance and in-depth knowledge of financial markets, instruments, market conventions and data. Particularly the following asset classes:

  • Rates: Swaps, STIR Futures, Swaptions, XCCY swaps.
  • Government Bonds & Bond Futures.
  • FX – Linear and Vanilla.

Data Strategy Engineer Tech Stack:

  • A minimum of 1.5 years experience using Python (pandas, numpy, requests etc).
  • Excel.
  • Databases: an understanding of SQL and NoSQL databases (postgress, mongo).
  • REST API.
  • Bloomberg API (Excel and python).

Data Strategy Engineer Soft Skills:

  • Ability to be very flexible, pragmatic and technically innovate solutions.
  • High energy and resilient.
  • High level of attention to details.

Educational background:

  • Math Finance / Economics / Engineering / Data Science.

Desirables:

  • Additional data vendor API knowledge.
  • Large data handling experience.
  • Experience working with and communicating with external clients or vendors.
  • Experience acting as a Lead.
  • Hold a Masters Degree

Experience:

Between 2-5 years of commercial experience post university.

Career Progression:

Depending on your aspirations, after roughly 2 years as a Data Strategy Engineer, there are two routes you can go; either develop into a full-on central Quant/Developer, or, transition into an Analyst in a PM team if you aspire to become a Trader/PM. Whichever route you choose, this is a great opportunity to get into a successful, growing hedge-fund.
