Project Architect

John McCall Architects are looking to add someone to their studio team to work on their existing and upcoming residential projects.

You will be working on your own projects, reporting directly to the practice directors. We are looking for someone capable of managing the outcomes required for all RIBA workstages.

There is an opportunity to take ownership of projects from inception through development and delivery as well as engaging in building and maintaining client relationships.

Our project base is primarily residential, encompassing individual houses, mass housing and large scale apartment buildings but we have a significant number of commercial / community/ industrial buildings in the workload.

As a practice we are focused on developing a skilled and engaged team and are looking for a candidate with experience within an architectural practice or similar environment who can bring quality design skills alongside delivery experience.

Our primary software packages are Microstation and Archicad for which we will provide training if required.

Job description

Architect or Architectural Technologist/ technician.

Min 3 years of experience post qualification in practice.

Work on multiple projects within the practice, both as job runner or as part of a team.

Ability to manage production of packages across all RIBA workstages.

Client facing experience and presentation skills.

Coordinate consultant and sub consultant / contractor information within design

Manage planning requirements and building control coordination

Attend site/ contractor meetings

Work to lead projects through to delivery as lead designer within the practice and assist other members of the internal team.

Mentor junior staff and provide guidance in their professional development.

Architectural Technologist Role

John McCall Architects are looking for someone to join our team primarily to deliver the technical packages associated with our workload.

Your main role will be to develop designs from stages 2/3 onwards through to completion and handover.

You will need to be able to manage projects both individually and as part of a team as required by project scope/ resourcing

There is an opportunity to develop individual skills and take ownership of projects through development and delivery as well as engaging in initial elements of design and concept stage.

As a practice we are focused on developing a skilled and engaged team and are looking for a candidate with 2-3 years of experience within an architectural practice or similar environment.

We encourage internal evaluations within the practice, and we’d like to add someone to the team who can bring more technical expertise to this process, both formally as part of project reviews, but also informally by advising colleagues.

The entire team is office based, and this role is based in our Liverpool city centre studio as value the input from all team members and the shared experience which comes from working alongside one another.
