Level 3 Zone 2
Contract Type: Permanent
Hours: Full Time (36 hours)
Our residents and communities are at the heart of everything we do. Here’s where you can help decide a better future for us all.
In the Private Sector Housing Service, part of the Homes and Communities Directorate, your main goal is to elevate standards in Camden's private rented sector. This role empowers you to leverage a full suite of enforcement tools—from HMO licensing to improvement notices and even Banning Orders—to address substandard housing. Additionally, you'll promote grants and landlord accreditation as effective alternatives, all aimed at enhancing the private housing landscape in Camden, with a strong focus on rental properties.
This post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act and will require an Enhanced DBS.
You will have experience in enforcement and knowledge of housing standards, including HMO licensing, along with training in the Housing Health and Safety Rating System.
You should demonstrate a basic understanding of our role in enhancing private rented sector standards and contribute by conducting HMO inspections, investigating complaints, taking enforcement action and clearly communicating complex issues to service users.
A solid grasp of housing construction, current trends, and energy efficiency is essential. Preferred qualifications include a BTEC in Environmental Health or Building Construction, a Diploma in Private Sector Housing Intervention or progress towards an Environmental Health Degree.
