Job Description As a Graduate Applied Materials Technologist, you will support the Applied Materials Technology Group in its mission to become the global leader in providing validated material property data and the associated R&D technologies needed for current and future fusion plants. This aligns with the wider vision of the Fusion Technology Division to enable the development and qualification of fusion device components for deployment in commercial fusion power plants. Your core responsibilities: Perform low-complexity tasks independently and medium-complexity tasks under supervision to support the delivery of projects related to one or more of AMTs key research areas: experimental mechanics, materials characterisation or digital materials technologies. Contribute to the dissemination of research outputs under supervision of senior staff (via technical reports, publications, conference talks, etc.) Under supervision and through independent study, work towards becoming a competent technical practitioner in one of AMTs key research areas: experimental mechanics, materials characterisation or digital materials technologies and their related sub-fields. Perform a variety of technical tasks designed to provide experience & familiarisation with staff, methods, practices, & programs of the Group and wider Division. Develop knowledge and understanding of fusion relevant topics and apply this learning to assigned projects. Qualifications Degree in Science or Engineering from 2024 or '25 Confident with all Microsoft applications including Excel, Word and Powerpoint Driven, with a strong appetite to learn and take on new challenges Able to collaborate effectively and communicate clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences Well organised and adaptable with the ability to plan and prioritise workload Additional Information A full list of our benefits can be found here but highlights include: £35,227 base salary Final salary defined benefit scheme with an equivalent of 21.5% employer pension contribution 25 days annual leave, plus 3 days Christmas closure and 2.5 privilege days, in addition to UK bank holidays Flexible and hybrid working options UKAEA's mission is clean energy for all, and we welcome talented people from all backgrounds who want to help us achieve our mission.
