London, United Kingdom King's College London Full time

This is an exciting opportunity to join a dynamic and expanding team, part of a new virtual UK MND Research Institute (UK MND RI) hosted by King's College London, with a bold strategy to make a difference to patients' lives by transforming translational research in motor neuron disease (MND) in the UK. The UK MND RI recently launched an ambitious strategy to accelerate the search for a cure for MND by targeted co-funding from government, charities and industry.
The UK MND Register is one of the largest MND registries in the world and has successfully collected data from over 4,000 patients and aims to collect information about every person diagnosed with MND in England, Wales and Northern Ireland. The Register will also become a central repository for MND data across the UK. Working alongside the Register's partner Project Manager at the University of Oxford, a Data Scientist and Principal Investigators, you will be responsible for all administrative and operational aspects of running the MND Register project including research ethics, governance, NHS site recruitment, contract management, report writing, budget management, team liaison and communications. You will also be responsible for working with the UK MND RI on joint inititiatives to develop the Register as a central point for capturing, storing, and linking data from patients across multiple research projects across the UK, such as clinical research trials, quality of life questionnaire studies, together with biobanking activities.
The King's MND Biobank also based at the Maurice Clinical Neurosceince Instititute received ethical approval in 2020 with the aim to build a central resource of samples and data from patients with MND and healthy controls. The biobank acts as a resource to share samples and data with researchers and collaborators to help better understand why MND develops and how we can provide better treatment for patients. You will be responsible for working alongside the Senior MND Clinical Trials Manager at Kings College Hospital, the Chief Investigator, rseearchers, and project management teams at the UK MND RI to ensure streamlined coordination, and effective governance and oversight are in place for biological sample and data collection.
This role sits within the Department of Basic and Clinical Neuroscience at King's College London Denmark Hill campus and will have responsibility for managing two key projects in MND Research nested within the UK MND RI.
Both projects are based at Department of Basic and Clinical Neuroscience which is involved in researching neurological disease including ALS/MND. We work closely with staff at King's College Hospital and the UK MND RI to ensure the projects deliver useful outcomes to the patient community.
This is a full time post (35 Hours per week), and you will be offered a fixed term contract until 1st June 2025.
