Purpose of Post:
The PDI Technician plays a pivotal role in ensuring that the vehicle is road-worthy and safe before delivery to the customer.
Key Tasks:
Conduct Pre-delivery Inspection in a timely manner and to the Wrightbus Quality Standard, including the programming / execution of Wabco, Voith, Xentry, Cummins and Josam systems
Conduct Road Tests and Shakedown Test in a timely manner and to the Wrightbus Quality Standard
Identifying and rectifying faults when they occur
Validate any rework of identified defects or uncompleted work after correction.
Implement any customer sign-off feedback or customer market feedback on Quality issues to improve Quality for new buses leaving the factory
Ability to read and understand technical manuals, drawings and wiring diagrams
Identify root causes of any relevant issues and implement solutions with operators, or other departments, to prevent re-occurrence
Communicate with all levels of the business to improve standardisation and to reduce quality defects
Give feedback on any of the issues above to allow Quality documentation to be updated and to carry forward lessons learned.
Ability to use computer systems such as office and app based software
Work alongside the managers and operators to create a teamwork environment to promote best practices for Quality
Be a competent practical worker and ensure safe, efficient use of all hand tools
Willing to work in any other required area and on occasion be willing to train others
Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines

Essential Criteria:
Educational Attainments: Time served Mechanic or 4 years experience in a chassis manufacturing environment or Time served automotive, domestic, or industrial electrician
Job Experience: 1-year experience of fault finding, diagnosing and rectification of faults
Technical Skills: Ability to identify root causes and implement corrective actions, Working knowledge of quality procedures and practices, Working knowledge in assembling / fabricating various areas of the chassis, Working knowledge of Tool Calibration, Working knowledge of continuous improvement, Ability to interpret engineering drawings and wiring diagrams.
Skills: Ability to work on own initiative and as a member of a team, Strong communication & problem-solving skills, Ability to meet tight deadlines and is forward thinking, Unafraid to confront operators and supervision with the facts when non-conformances are discovered, Calm under pressure, , especially when Quality conflicts with Production, Capable of influencing operators to improve what they do, Ability to meet targets & work in a professional manner.
Circumstances: Flexible and adaptable, Willing to take on business travel, Willing to work shifts as required, Willing to work overtime as required
Desirable Criteria:
Experience: Clean PCV Driving Licence Category D, Working with zero emission vehicles
