Overview: We are seeking a skilled Senior Middle Office Analyst to join our expanding global Finance team, located in our London office. This role will focus primarily on supporting our UK and European gas and power trading operations, with occasional assistance provided to our North American Trade Control team.

This is a hybrid position, requiring an average of three days per week in our London office at 2 London Wall Place. This full-time role encompasses a range of responsibilities including daily P&L analysis, position reconciliation, and trader support.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Serve as the main contact for trader inquiries and issue resolution in the UK and European gas and power markets.
  • Perform daily position reconciliations, ensuring alignment between internal records and broker statements.
  • Act as a mentor within the team, providing training and ensuring adequate coverage during both scheduled and unscheduled absences.
  • Collaborate closely with gas and power trading desks, risk management teams, and global colleagues to ensure seamless process integration and understanding of the business.
  • Generate and analyze daily profit and loss statements, including both T0 Flash and T1 end-of-day results.
  • Work with the Accounting team to present economic value reconciliations and conduct comprehensive walkthroughs.

Qualifications:

  • Degree in accounting, finance, economics, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
  • Significant experience in the European gas and power markets.
  • Proven track record of supporting commodities trading desks directly.
  • Strong analytical capabilities and expertise in data management.
  • Proficiency in SQL and Python is essential.
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel.
