The South London & Maudsley (SLaM) Clinical Informatics Service is being set up to provide informatics capability to support clinical decision making in direct care. The service will use innovative data enrichment and modelling techniques developed by researchers and clinicians in the Maudsley Biomedical Research Centre (BRC) and make these data entities available to frontline staff. The Clinical Informatics Service has recently been awarded funding over 2 years deploy the proof of concept into a fully operational service within SLaM.
The post-holder will have experience of large-scale information systems, ideally in a healthcare environment, and familiarity with natural language processing.
Work with the wider BRC informatics team to deploy and develop Natural Language Processing applications to quantify various clinical entities.

Work with clinical stakeholders to develop robust definitions of clinical entities and to pinpoint relevant textual source data, and with NLP testers to validate and improve app performance.
Work with our technical team to design and implement infrastructure that supports incremental build of source data, daily NLP runs and usage of app output within dashboards.

Significant relevant experience of hands on SQL queries, stored procedures and OLAP structures in an enterprise database environment
Experience of scripting language (e.g. Python, Perl, Powershell)
Demonstratable experience of data mining toolsets and software
Experience of data integration in multiple formats.
Relevant experience of integrating databases from multiple vendors
Notable knowledge and experience of pattern matching languages such as regular expressions
Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications and other common desktop software such as antivirus and productivity suites
Good working knowledge of data analysis and reporting tools, e.g. Exposure to Oracle and other RDBMS products
