Position Mission
As a member of the Aviation Powerplant team, the AVP will manage all technical aspects of a subset of Castlelake portfolio commercial aircraft and engines, both on and off lease.
Major Responsibilities
- Support the overall technical management of portfolio engines, managing outside resources as required.
- Play an integral role in underwriting engine forecasts and valuations for new investments.
- Manage engine pre-buy technical diligence.
- Manage engine lease return inspections/audits, storage and transition maintenance.
- Manage engine technical delivery to lessee or buyer.
- Support the engine aspect of aircraft purchases and transitions as required.
- Ensure engine compliance with technical lease provisions during term of lease.
- Coordinate with operations team and external parties on reporting requirements.
- Review and approve work scopes for reimbursable claim events with lessees.
- Review subsequent maintenance reserve claims to ensure compliance with lease provisions.
- Manage Castlelake’s own engine repairs including work scopes, vendor selection and monitoring.
- Review and assist with negotiation of lease agreements, purchase/sale agreements and LOIs to ensure engine technical risks are properly managed.
- Support portfolio remarketing efforts with technical support.
- Ad hoc projectsas assigned.
Qualifications
- Undergraduate degree preferred, and/or FAA A&P license or equivalent.
- A broad knowledge of narrowbody and widebody engine types such as CFM56-5B, 7B and LEAP, V2500-A5, CF6-80E1, Trent family, GE90, GEnX and PW1000 GTF.
- A minimum of five years of experience working at an engine OEM, airline, engine consultancy, engine leasing company, or in a powerplant role at an aircraft leasing company.
- Experience reviewing and understanding the technical provisions of aircraft and engine lease and purchase agreements.
- Experience auditing technical records including engine LLP back to birth traceability.
- Experience in authoring or reviewing engine repair work scopes.
- The ability to multi-task, providing coverage to several concurrent projects utilizing external resources are required.
- Deep understanding of a variety of cultures; internationally oriented and able to build rapport between organizations, people, and cultures.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
- Strong Microsoft 365 skills
- Detail oriented and self-motivated.
- Team player and flexible; willing to perform tasks necessary to achieve common goals.
- The ability to manage through difficult situations in a professional manner.
- The ability to travel internationally up to 25%.
