Job Title: Manager - Central Production Unit & Catering
Position Overview:
We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Manager to oversee the Central Production Unit (CPU) of our bagel bakery, while also managing our catering operations from the CPU itself. This role requires strong leadership skills, exceptional organisational abilities, and a passion for delivering high-quality bakery products and catering services. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring efficient operations, maintaining quality standards, managing staff, and driving growth in both the CPU and catering divisions.
This CPU will be located in Acton, West London - A valid driver's licence is required for this position.
Responsibilities:
Central Production Unit Management:
Oversee all aspects of the Central Production Unit, including production scheduling, inventory management, quality control, and adherence to food safety regulations.
Develop and implement production processes to optimise efficiency, minimise waste, and maintain product quality with guidance from the Operations Manager.
Coordinate with departments such as procurement, sales, and distribution to ensure smooth workflow and timely delivery of products to our London locations.
Monitor production output and adjust staffing levels and production schedules as needed to meet demand.
Work alongside the Operations Manager to ensure a high quality of production is followed and Cost of Goods is keps to an acceptable standard
Oversee your team, taking full responsibility of rota and any time off requests from your team.
Catering Operations Management:
Lead and manage the catering division from the CPU - including sales, menu development, and execution of catering orders.
Build and maintain relationships with clients, respond to inquiries, and ensure customer satisfaction with catering services.
Work closely with your Operations Manager to create innovative and appealing catering menus that align with client preferences and dietary requirements.
Oversee event logistics, including staffing, equipment maintenance, transportation, and any on-site coordination.
Team Leadership:
Recruit, train, and supervise staff for the CPU/Catering division, fostering a positive work environment and ensuring high performance and productivity.
Provide ongoing coaching, feedback, and performance evaluations to employees, fostering their professional development and growth.
Foster a culture of teamwork, collaboration, and accountability among staff members, encouraging open communication and problem-solving.
Quality Assurance and Compliance:
Maintain high standards of product quality and consistency in both the CPU and catering operations, conducting regular inspections and implementing corrective actions as necessary.
Ensure compliance with all food safety regulations, sanitation standards, and on site health requirements.
Implement and enforce standard operating procedures (SOPs) for production, catering, and sanitation practices.
Financial Management:
Alongside your Operations Manager, develop and manage budgets for the CPU and catering departments, including labour costs, cost of production, and equipment maintenance.
Monitor financial performance, working to complete tasks within budget, and implement cost-saving measures to improve profitability.
Identify opportunities for revenue growth, such as expanding catering services to new markets or introducing new product lines in the CPU.
Qualifications:
Proven experience in bakery production management and catering operations, with at least 2 years of relevant experience.
Strong leadership abilities, with a demonstrated track record of effectively managing teams and driving results.
Excellent organisational skills, with the ability to prioritise tasks, manage multiple projects simultaneously, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Solid understanding of food safety regulations, sanitation practices, and quality assurance protocols.
Exceptional communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to interact professionally with clients, staff and the commercial CPU administration team.
Valid driver's licence with a clean driving record.
Flexibility to work evenings/early mornings, weekends, and holidays as needed to oversee catering events and production schedules.
